Castle Acre Quarry boasts a storied history, having been in operation for over 70 years. The journey began in 1947 when chalk was first extracted using labour-intensive methods involving hand tools and horse-drawn carts.

In those formative years, chalk emerged as a vital resource for agriculture, as farmers started to appreciate the importance of soil fertility and management. This newfound understanding enabled them to leverage the benefits of chalk, significantly enhancing their crop yields.

Today, we take pride in being the largest supplier of quarried chalk in our region, with plans to expand into various other sectors of the industry. We currently produce an impressive 100,000 tonnes of chalk each year, catering to both agricultural and industrial needs.

Moreover, we are excited to offer whole and knapped flints for decorative building applications, further enriching our product line-up. We are pleased to welcome Rob and Maxine Hunt to the team and they are excited to be heading up the flint operations.
